Introduction to Coffee Roasting (beginner course)

Learn what affects the quality and value of your beans, from tree to cup. We will explore roasting concepts, industry standards for cupping, common roasting equipment and safety standards. By the time you leave, you’ll have a greater understanding of how to properly evaluate green coffee before you buy, how to create a repeatable custom profile and how to avoid top roast defects.

Deeper Exploration of Roasting Concepts (advanced course)

Each two-day learning experience explores three or four concepts related to coffee roasting, with a strong focus on sensory evaluation and hands-on experience. Topics will change every few months, depending on need and demand. Let us know if there’s a particular topic you’d like to explore!

Barista Roasting Series

This one-day, hands-on roasting seminar is for the barista who wants to know more about roasting coffee and espresso. We will explore a bit of the history of roasting, and review current equipment, technology and — most importantly — terminology. A brief exploration of roasting in regards to roasting for espresso will be discussed. You will also have the chance to cup coffee according to SCAA protocols, as well as getting your hands dirty on a Probatino and roasting your own coffee to take home.

Coffee Roasting Defined

This unique one-day event will introduce you to the world of coffee roasting. Perfect for anyone exploring getting into roasting! We will explore a bit of the history of roasting, and review current equipment, technology and — most importantly — terminology. You will be introduced to the SCAA cupping protocols and take part in an actual cupping, as well as getting your hands dirty on a Probatino and roasting your own coffee to take home.
