Probat Burns offers the FSC series of Shellcon preconditioning machines to help prepare your cocoa beans for breaking and dehulling. The machine puffs and loosens the shell of the cocoa bean and then sterilizes it with hot air and a spray of water. Setting the standard for gentle and effective cocoa bean preparation, the Shellcon retains each kernel's initial moisture content without losing any measurable fat content to the shell. The recirculating mode of operation also returns most of the input energy to the process for more economical operation.
Features include:
- Moist, thermal pretreatment for reducing the adhesion forces between the shell and kernel
- Gentle drying for optimal preparation of the beans before dehulling and roasting
- Specialized design operation for thermal protection of the cocoa nibs
- Continuously rotating drum for optimal mixing of precleaned beans
- Turbulent air flow to ensure that all beans are pretreated uniformly and effectively
- Specially designed separation method for maximum yield
- Clean handling for reduced bacterial count
- Heat recovery design to minimize operating costs
